March 7
SOUP Meeting

12 to 3 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, West Chester, PA.

"Good soup is one of the prime ingredients of good living." - Louis P. De Gouy

Sharing warm soup with friends on a wintry day. What could be better?

We ask members to bring a hosta-inspired soup, not a soup using hostas as ingredients. . Perhaps something like: ‘Clambake’, or ‘Orange Marmalade’, or maybe ‘Marbled Cream’ or, ‘Silver Ladle’. Members will vote and a prize goes to the best soup. We have electrical strips and will get everyone’s crockpot plugged in. For newcomers, simply match the name of a hosta cultivar with a soup recipe (either new or a favorite), and bring enough to share. Use the Hosta Library (www.hostalibrary.org) as a resource. See the example of a winning soup prepared by our late president Marilyn Romenesko on page 5 of our winter newsletter.

If soup is not your specialty, bring a little something sweet; we always love desserts.

Everyone is encouraged to bring garden catalogues or pictures of their own hostas. We will chat about our gardening plans for the upcoming season and share some short videos about growing trilliums. Trillium bulbs will be available to purchase.

Directions For Westminster Presbyterian Church

From East and North: Take I-76 or the PA Turnpike west to King of Prussia. Follow the signs to US-202S.

Take 202S. At the Fraser exit, move over to the 2 left lanes to continue 202S and avoid the split with

US- 30 bypass. Continue 202S, which becomes a highway with traffic lights as it passes around West Chester.

West Pleasant Grove Rd is about 0.5 mi after the point where your single lane of 202S rejoins. It is possible to

turn right into West Pleasant Grove Rd. and into the church parking lot. But, if traffic is bad, 1000 ft prior to

West Pleasant Grove Rd, take the second Stetson turn to the right. Then a left into Orvis Way, which leads to the

church.

From the South and Southwest: From US-1 go north on 202(Wilmington Pike) for about 3.5 mi. The

church is on your left. As above, it is possible to turn left into West Pleasant Grove Rd, but it is not

recommended. It is easier to turn left on PA 926 about 0.5 mi prior to the church. Go 1 mi to New St. Turn

right and proceed 0.5 mi to West Pleasant Grove Rd. Turn right and proceed to the church.

From the West: Take I-76 East to PA-100S. Follow this through Exton and under the US-30 bypass.

About 1 mi after the bypass, PA-100S joins US-202S. Proceed around West Chester as above.

Or take the US-30 bypass east to Exton. Exit to PA-100S, which joins US-202S as above.
